Throughout this year a theme of Healthy Relationships will feature, within our meetings each term. This important area of focus touches almost every aspect of school provision however with recent developments, including:

  • the ‘Ofsted Review of Sexual Abuse in Schools and Settings’,
  • the introduction of statutory ‘Relationships Education, Sex and Relationships Education (and Health Education’
  • the Plymouth ‘Together for Childhood’ (T4C) programme/partnership
  • and the work of the Plymouth ‘Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) commission.

 

For our first meeting we will be joined by colleagues from the NSPCC, T4C and ‘Speak Out Stay Safe’, to talk about their programmes, opportunities for schools and provide this terms CPD.

 

It will be a packed Agenda and the CPD element of Thursday the 20th of October’s meeting will include:

 

  • Introduction to the Together for Childhood whole school approach model – focus on the prevention of peer to peer harms .
  • Healthy Relationships for Life – Introduction to plans to learn from primary schools and adapt the model to meet the needs of their settings – seeking consultation and involvement.
  • A more detailed look at two elements of the current whole school approach. Specifically;
  • A) Primary Prevention/workforce Development – A brief introduction to Harmful Sexual behaviour (and where you can learn more)
  • B) Routine Record Keeping and Analysis – the benefits of using definitions/categories of sexual behaviour on CPOMS
