Developing and Supporting Positive Relationships
(Harmful Sexual Behaviour, Together 4, Childhood, Curriculum & Pastoral Delivery)
Date: Thursday 2nd December 2021
Time: 4.00 – 5.00pm
Hub priorities based on national, local and citywide data and need:
Health and Wellbeing in Education provision will facilitate a wider, more holistic approach to ensuring that all children and young people’s wellbeing is nurtured and developed. The PSHE landscape has broadened with the recent introduction of statutory Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (and Health Education) 2020 and the Covid 19 Pandemic has provided a need to focus on emotional and mental wellbeing. Elements of educational development including trauma informed practice, the Everyone’s Invited’ agenda, physical health and the various aspects of inclusion, diversity and equality, of course reinforce the need to support our children and young people with all aspects of their educational and personal development. To achieve their potential, children and young people need to be happy, healthy and well informed, leading to the development of knowledge and skills that prepare them for life (Thus the HWiE Hub delivers the ‘Curriculum for Life’).
This evolution of the previous PSHE & Citizenship Hub will continue to provide CPD, advice and an opportunity for the city’s education settings to share best practice, however it will now be more responsive to emerging and ongoing need. The Summer meeting each year will include a celebration of best practice, a review of data/intelligence and scrutiny of the following year’s delivery plan.
Aims / Priorities:
- To increase the confidence, knowledge and ability of the city’s education establishments to delivery high quality health and wellbeing provision, practice and policy for all children and young people.
- To facilitate and drive health and wellbeing development (and support systems) through the sharing of best practice, provision of CPD, analysis of intelligence and via consultation, for the city’s senior leadership teams, subject coordinators and pastoral leads.
