MY BACKGROUND

My teaching career has spanned 20 years so far and in that time I have worked across all of KS2. I initially started teaching at Oreston Academy but I am currently teaching in year 5 and 6, and have been for 12 years now, at High View School (Efford). Throughout my time as a teacher, I have been lucky enough to develop and further my professional development: I have lead individuals and teams, coordinated science (working alongside the strategic science hub team), coordinated ITT and mentored countless teacher trainees in Early years, KS1 and KS2 for PTSA School Direct, Exeter University, Marjons and Plymouth University as an associate tutor.

MY SUCCESS STORIES

I am responsible for coaching and mentoring Plymouth University, Exeter University, Marjon Students (B.Ed., PGCE) and PTSA (School Direct) and has worked as part of the HOSTA group for the training of Early Year Students in Plymouth delivering modules. I have delivered modules for Marjons to B.Ed. 1, 2 and 3 students on the EYFS, KS1 and KS2 curriculum including planning, resourcing and assessment. I am a qualified associate tutor for Plymouth University and am responsible for monitoring students’ welfare, progress and developing their teaching.

I have worked alongside and taught with teachers from Lipson Cooperative Academy in Science – collaboratively planning sessions forging a strong link with the local secondary school.

I have worked and contributed, alongside other schools in Plymouth, to developing science by trialling new forms of subject knowledge assessments – identifying their content, relevance and appropriateness in helping assess children’s progress after levels. In partnership with the Science Hub, I have helped to develop mastery in science with the introduction of mastery questions linked with all areas of the science curriculum. I am now share responsibility for leading the Plymouth PTSA Primary Science Hub.
