Developing Fluency Through Reasoning
Fluency is one of the three aims of the National Curriculum and involves far more than the memorisation of facts. A key element of fluency is reasoning; practice that focuses on reasoning strategies, looking for connections, patterns and relationships, is likely to be more effective. In particular pupils need to reason about what is already known in order to work out what is unknown. This half day course will explore activities that encourage children to do exactly that: to notice things and then make decisions, using what they know and their understanding of relationships to solve problems efficiently
