How representation and structure can be effectively used to support a reasoning classroom: a practical workshop to explore how we can enable pupils to reason and understand the ‘abstract’ through tackling the ‘real’.

Aims:

To unpick the meaning of ‘representation and structure’ in Maths, discussing the impact of effective usage.

To practically explore some of the manipulatives/tools that can be used to support this process.

To reflect on how we can plan this into daily classroom practice.
