4 x 2.5 hour sessions for staff who would like to develop a greater understanding of the needs of children with communication difficulties (understanding, processing, and talking) and the needs of children for whom language difficulties are their main barrier to learning, sometimes described as Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). The first 2 sessions will focus on the development of language skills, and an understanding of how you can recognise and identify difficulties and contribute to assessment.  We will then start to build practical strategies to use in the classroom.  Subsequent sessions will be co-constructed with the group (on the basis of your needs), and will be workshop based, aiming to ‘bring the learning to life’ by problem-solving and planning for supporting children in participants’ schools.  there will be the opportunity to share knowledge, skills and resources. Colleagues from the Communication Interaction Team (CIT), ICAN nursery, Language Support Centre and Speech and Language Therapists from Dam Hannah Rogers, contribute to this multi-disciplinary course.
