Outline: Plymouth is a welcoming city and a dispersal area for families seeking asylum. As children from Asylum Seeking/Refugee (ASR) families join our schools it is vital that teachers working with them and their families, have a good understanding of the asylum system, the challenges they may face, and the reality of their experience, so that we can ensure the best possible inclusive learning environments which will ensure children are emotionally supported and provided with suitable learning opportunities that will help them settle and make the progress needed to change their lives. Clear pedagogical advice with practical take-aways – a must for all teachers working with ASR leaners.
