After last year’s highly successful Heads and Leaders Conference, we are delighted to share with the following details:

Keynote Speaker: Nick Hart – Building a Strong Culture in Schools

Bio- Nick is the Executive Headteacher of the Alwyn and Courthouse Federation in Maidenhead. He is also a visiting fellow for Ambition Institute, facilitating NPQH sessions and writing materials for their NPQs.  Nick is one of the organisers of ResearchED Berkshire and has written two books about school leadership: Impact for Bloomsbury and Creating a strong culture and a positive climate for Routledge.

Session Outline –

This session will be led by Nick Hart, executive Headteacher and author of ‘Creating a Strong Culture and Positive Climate in Schools’ and ‘Impact: a Five-Part Framework for Making a Difference in Schools.’ Nick will share what senior leaders need to know and do in order to make a difference, including:

– Examples of the range of things that good leaders know about (formal knowledge such as curriculum, behaviour, pedagogy as well as informal knowledge about the school and colleagues that combine to make expertise)

– Plenty of reflection on what school teams collectively know and what they do not know

– Examples of ways to build knowledge of different types as senior leaders

– How what leaders know contributes to culture and climate

– Ways of behaving that are more likely to build trust, autonomy, motivation and purpose amongst a staff team

Price: Each Plymouth school will be offered 1 free place. Further places available at £50 each.

Pastries, tea and coffee will be available upon arrival, followed by lunch in the afternoon.
