PTSA Maths Professional Community is excited to offer 5 online sessions from the National Association for Special Educational Needs (NASEN) in order to support the teaching of SEN pupils within the primary classroom.

NASEN is the leading organisation in the United Kingdom which aims to promote the education, training, advancement and development of all those with special and additional support needs. They are providing 5 bespoke online sessions to increase teacher knowledge of different aspects of SEND and how these may affect a child’s maths learning. Teachers will also gain practical advice on how they can support these pupils to achieve their full potential in the primary classroom.

The 5 online sessions will run from 3:45pm until 5pm and cover the following topics:

Session 1 on Thursday 17th March 2022 – General approaches for supporting pupils with SEN in maths lessons including Universal Design for Learning. This session will also address the fact that there may be a SEN in maths and the importance of how to put yourself in the child’s place (potential areas of difficulty).

Session 2: Thursday 5th May 2022 – Speech Language and Communication Needs and maths

Session 3: Thursday 6th October 2022 – Autism and maths

Session 4: Thursday 2nd February 2023 – Dyscalculia/dyslexia and maths

Session 5: Thursday 27th April 2023 – Other literacy based and maths

These virtual sessions are priced at £25 per session or all 5 for £100
